Latest report shows 58 new Wallowa County cases in the last four days

ENTERPRISE — Wallowa County had its highest single report of new COVID-19 cases to date.

The Oregon Health Authority on Tuesday, Jan. 18, reported 58 new cases in Wallowa County among 28,037 new cases in Oregon. The case count is from Jan. 14-17. There were 10 deaths in the report, with none of those being in Wallowa County. 

The high count moves Wallowa County’s pandemic total to 937, with the fatality count reported by OHA staying at 13.

Hospitalizations due to COVID are at a pandemic high in Region 1, which includes much of Northwestern Oregon and the Portland area, but in Region 9 are about half of the count they were during the delta spike. As of Jan. 18, there were 22 individuals hospitalized with COVID in the six Region 9 counties, which includes Wallowa County.

Statewide, there are 911 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. 

Here, 71.4% of adults have a dose of a vaccine, 66.6% have a full series and 37.1% have had booster shots. Of 12-17 year olds, the rate is 43.2% who have had one shot, and in 5-11 year olds, that rate is 18.6%.
