There were 11 more cases of COVID-19 in Wallowa County, as reported by the Oregon Health Authority on Thursday, Sept. 23, bringing its overall total to 532. That includes 113 cases in the month of September alone.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths in the county was unchanged, per the OHA, with the total remaining at 11. 

Vaccination rates in the county were largely unchanged, as well. The rate of those 18 and older with the vaccine is 64.2%, with 3,701 people in that group getting vaccinated. The overall rate has inched up to 54.1%, or 3,872 people. 

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped to 885, and ICU patients are down to 263. However, the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Region 9 increased from 27 to 31, though there are four ICU beds available in the region. There were none according to OHA’s report on Wednesday.

The OHA also put out its weekly breakthrough case Thursday, and of 11,994 cases in Oregon in the last week, 2,778 were in vaccinated people, a rate of 23.2%. In Wallowa County, OHA reported 11 breakthrough cases, with the known total now at 48.
