Youth internship offered at Josephy Center

JOSEPH — An internship is being offered at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture in Joseph, with an application deadline of Aug. 30, according to a press release.

The center is seeking “an enthusiastic, creative and organized high school, gap year or college student,” the release stated.

The internship pays $11.50-$13 per hour for 5-20 hours a week that includes Fridays, Saturdays and some weekday afternoons. It offers a chance for the intern to work on an art portfolio with assistance from instructors, to learn about nonprofits, art exhibits and arts education management. The internship also offers volunteer hours for one’s resume and letters of recommendation.

Candidates must have organizational and computer skills, and they should be comfortable interacting with the public, especially youths, and should have some work experience.

Duties will include front desk staffing by greeting visitors and running the cash register; cleaning and inventory of the gallery, art shop, studio, bathrooms, kitchen and library; assist in setup and cleanup for multiple classes/classrooms, including exhibits; acting as a student teacher in youth art classes; distributing marketing materials in Wallowa County; special projects according to interests: library, exhibits, education, systems; occasional assistance with evening special events, including photographing or videotaping; being a part of the Josephy team: cultivate and maintain relationships with key staff, and leadership from community organizations, schools, nonprofits and other institutions.
