Job fair set for Wednesday
A Wallowa County Job Fair hosted By WorkSource will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Prairie Creek Center, 104 Litch St., Enterprise.

Network with employers and apply for work. Bring a résumé and list of references. Come dressed for an interview. Veterans will be given priority of service.
WorkSource Oregon is a network of public and private partners who work together to respond to workforce challenges through high-quality services to individuals and businesses, resulting in job attainment, retention and advancement.

Wallowa park fundraiser set
Wallowa City “Music in the City Park,” a fundraiser for the new Memorial Town Square Project will be 5 p.m. Saturday, June 30.
The event features “The Local Yokels” and “Lindsey and Company.” This is a family gathering style event. Bring your own picnic or purchase a hot dog meal and pie from a variety of Wallowa County cooks.

Spay, neuter clinic planned
Double Arrow Veterinary Clinic will host its third-annual Feline Spay and Neuter Extravaganza Thursday, June 21.
Those who choose to have their cat spayed or neutered will receive a variety of coupons and discount.

Legislators plan summit July 10
Sen. Bill Hansell and Rep. Greg Barreto will host a discussion with elected officials from Umatilla, Union and Wallowa Counties to discuss potential legislation for the upcoming 2019 Legislative Session.
The event is 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Eastern Oregon University Huber Auditorium (Badgley Hall, Room 102) in La Grande.
Legislators do not have a bill limit for the 2019 Legislative Session and as such, both say they wish to introduce any legislation to address issues or problems facing Eastern Oregon.
Elected officials are asked to bring any issues facing their city or county to the meeting.
In addition to the Wallowa County Commission and commissioner-elect,
District Attorneys and Sheriffs, County Clerks, Treasurers, Surveyors and Assessors have been invited.
Mayors and City Council members from Enterprise, Joseph, Lostine and Wallowa are also expected to attend.
Wilson to head WHS Interacters
Ashley Wilson, who will be a senior this fall, will lead the Interact Club of Wallowa High School for a second year. Other officers will be Rylee Goller, vice president; Riley Ferré, secretary and Grace Pendarvis, treasurer.
Interact is a service club sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wallowa County. The club produces the school’s Christmas Bazaar for elementary school pupils and has staged a cookie giveaway, a trip to Eastern Oregon University with the girls’ basketball team and a “spirit bus” trip to Baker City to watch the boys’ basketball district tournament.
Wallowa is the only high school in eastern Oregon to have an Interact Club.
Beef raffle is under way
Tickets are being sold in raffle-style for a side of beef, cut and wrapped, contributed by the McClaren Ranch. Tickets are $5 each and three for $10. Proceeds benefit the Wallowa County Museum.
Two going to health gathering
Two students from Wallowa County have been selected to attend the Northeast Oregon Area Health Career Camp June 18-22 –– Dee Dee Duncan of Enterprise and Angelene Matthews of Lostine.
Sessions expose participants to a variety of unique medical experiences, including various types of healthcare training, individually-tailored job shadows, tours of medical facilities and much more. Students also participate in panel discussions with local healthcare providers and recreational activities.
Sessions are held on the campus of Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.
