Kolbaba takes CJD Rodeo bull riding event

Wallowa County native Derek Kolbaba did not disappoint his hometown fans Thursday night at the Chief Joseph Days Rodeo.
He scored an event-winning 88 points on Bridwell Pro Rodeos’ Omaha, a bull that had not been ridden previously.
Kolbaba, 21, hails from Walla Walla, Wash., and is near the top in the international rankings of the PBR. He left Joseph Thursday evening and drove all night to take part in the PBR Velocity Tour in Big Sky, Mont.
Kolbaba also won the bull riding event at both the 2014 and 2016 Chief Joseph Days Rodeo.
