Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness will hold a groundbreaking event for its integrated health services building 10 a.m. Aug. 12 on Medical Parkway across from Winding Waters Medical Clinic.

The event begins with a town hall meeting at 10 a.m, featuring Sen. Bill Hansell and Rep. Greg Barreto. A barbecue lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Winding Waters Clinic and Building Healthy Families will also have a presence in the building to more closely connect people to services that address the social determinants of health.

The building will have enough space to hold large meetings, classes and demonstrations for groups or agencies needing a location along with medical services, mental health services, childcare and dental.

Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness is a full-service community-based program focusing on the mental health and life enrichment needs of the people of Wallowa County. It is the primary provider of mental health and developmental disability services in Wallowa County.

Confidential, individualized services focuses on people with mental and emotional disturbances, crisis intervention, those with severe mental illness, people with drug and alcohol abuse issues, gambling issues and people with developmental disabilities. The program also provides marriage and family counseling, and a variety of groups for people seeking to improve their quality of life.
