Looking for the perfect book to give as a Christmas gift? Ms. Gibbs’ fifth graders in Wallowa have some great recommendations!

If you like action packed books then you will like the “Michael Vey” series! Richard Paul Evans was very creative and imaginative to make these books. Michael Vey is very electrical and dangerous! While on the run from the Elgin he realizes that there are more people like him. Then the Elgin kidnap his mother and leaves him no choice but to break in and get in a compound; what he didn’t want to happen. These books are for kids 10 and over!

I recommend The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan to anyone who likes an action packed series with Percy Jackson and his friends. There are 5 books in this series; the lightning thief is the first book. I won’t tell you who he is, but Percy is a son of a god which makes him a half-blood. In the first tragic fight with a man/bull Percy wins but he loses his mother with a horn of the man/bull (minotaur). After that Percy gets a quest to get back a symbol of power from Hades that he stole from Zeus, the sky god. If you want to know what happens read the lightning thief.

If you are looking for a good book, the Harry Potter series is the series for you. The Harry Potter books would be a perfect holiday gift for children and grandchildren. The Harry Potter books are action packed and are filled with adventures. Harry rides on hippogriffs, swims with mermen, and battles giant snakes. The first book is called the Chamber of Secrets. Doesn’t that sound cool? The awesome author is J.K. Rowling. I think these books would be a perfect Christmas present.

A good book for people who like realistic fiction is When Zachary Beaver Came to Town. This book is really funny and interesting. Zachary Beaver is the heaviest kid in the world. It is a Newberry award winner and I think it deserves to be one. The author of this book is Kimberly Willis Holt. I think this book is overall funny and I definitely recommend it.

Are you looking for a good series to read… Savvy by Ingrid Law! This is a book about a girl names Mibs. She is a 13 years old. She wants to know what her savvy is. A savvy is a superpower. She thought her savvy was the power to wake people up. She tried it on an unconscious homeless guy, it turns out her savvy isn’t the power to wake people up. So after that she had to go back home. She has been driving to a different city trying to find her papa, who is in a coma. If you want to know what her real savvy is, read Savvy by Ingrid Law. Other books in the series are: Scumble and Switch.

I recommend The Tale of Despereaux to everyone 3rd grade and up because it has a great theme. It’s not bad to be different from everybody. The main characters are Despereaux, the princess and Despereaux’s mom, his dad, and a rat. Recently despereaux got in a dungeon because he loved a person. Will he get out of the dungeon? You have to read The Tale of Despereaux by Kate Dicamillo.

If you are looking for books for ages 10+ get the Inheritance Series by Christopher Paolini. They are filled with action, adventure and betrayal. Eragon finds a dragon egg and then the adventures begin. I personally liked them a lot and I think that other book lovers will like these books.

If you are looking for books for your kids, you should buy the magic tree house books because they are easy to read and are good books. They are about two kids that go to a tree house in the woods and it brings the kids to a place from the books that are in the tree house.

I recommend Crispin and the Cross of Lead by Avi for a Christmas present. It is a Newberry Award Winner. If you get this book it will teach your kids about the life of a boy in the 1300’s. It is about a boy named Crispin running from soldiers. This is a life and death situation all crammed into a book.

When you were a kid did you like fairy tales? Then you should get The Half Upon a Time series by James Riley for kids in fourth grade and up. There are three books in the series. Half Upon A Time, Twice Upon a Time, and Once Upon The End. The characters are Jake, May, and Phillip. They are always going on adventures. The first book they meet the wicked queen. The wicked queen tells Jack and Phillip that one of them is going to betray her and one of them is going to die for her. In the second book they are taken to the sea by sea creatures, then Jack meets his sister. In the third book you will find out who will betray her and who will die for her. I love this series!

Do you want to have a great Christmas present for your children, grandchildren or anybody? Well I recommend the Floors series. The first book is called Floors, the 2nd book is called 3 Below, and the last book is called The field of Wacky Inventions. These books are about Leo Fillmore and Remi Fillmore. They go on a lot of adventures but Leo and Remi have to watch out for Mrs. Sparks! If you want to know more, look for the Floors series by Patrick Carman.

I think the Little House series by Laura Ingles Wilder would be a good gift for Christmas. These books are really good books; the book that I am reading is called Little House in the Big Woods. These books are about Laura’s adventures back in the olden days. This is a really good book. So if you want a good book for your kids, get Laura Ingles Wilder.

I recommend the Land of Elyon series by Patrick Carman. It is all fiction so if you don’t like fiction your out of luck. This book is about Alexa Daley, she is a teenager and is trapped inside a world of evil. Before the walls went up everybody was free to roam around the forest and explore. This series is fun and adventurous. Alexa explores the world of Elyon inside and out from Bridewell to The valley of Thorn. To find out if she escapes the walls try the Land of Elyon series.

I love The Wings of Fire series! They are the best books for 3rdgraders and up. The main characters are; Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny. Now I will tell you a little bit about each dragon. Clay is nice and a good fighter, Tsunami is fierce and a little bossy, Glory is a kind of a smart aleck but still nice, Starflight is super smart, and Sunny is sweet and doesn’t like to fight other dragons.

Zoe Hermens

The Red Pyramid is a cool, action packed book by Rick Riordan. This book is about 2 kids, Sadie and her brother Carter. They are the blood of pharaohs which means they are royal. In this book gods and monsters exist. Carter is hosting the king of the gods and Sadie is hosting Isis the queen of the gods. Sadie’s cat muffin turns out to be a cat goddess. I recommend this book for 4th graders and above.

For Christmas, you should get the Goosebumps books for your family because they are a fun series to read. When I got my first Goosebumps book I was happy. All of them are different and scary enough to be fun. If you get one I think you will be happy but if you get the whole set that would be cool. The Goosebumps series is by R.L. STINE.

Hey, are you looking for a great series for your grandchild or child? Well if you are then you should get the Inheritance series. This series is about Dragons, Droves, Elves, and magic. There are 4 books; the first book is Eragon, the second book is Eldest, the third book is Brizinger, and the last book is Inheritance. I would only recommend the Inheritance series if your child likes fantasy and if your child is in 4th grade and up.
