It’s a wrap, and a party.

The 4th Annual Ruby Peak 48-Hour Film Festival wrapped up Monday night at the OK Theatre with 13 out of 14 film companies turning in their productions.

The crowd filled the theater and the night was filled with applause.

“This has been our best year ever,” said co-organizer (along with Carolyn Leone) Luke Zwanziger. “What you’re seeing tonight is impressive.”

Every film crew finished its film from start to finish in 48 hours, doing their own writing, directing, shooting, acting and editing. They were given genres for their film, drawn from a hat, and every film had to include a self-help guru, a statue of some kind and use of the phrase “Conventional wisdom says, ‘You get what you pay for’.”

The stories of the shoot included accounts of crying, whining, epic meltdowns and hair-tearing technical difficulties; that, and laughter, moments of inspiration, appreciation of each other and awe at their own persistence and talent.

The winner of the coveted People’s Choice award was the team of Robby Day and Dallas Rogers, both of Enterprise, for their comedy submission “Tim Burkhalter for County Magistrate Production Zone 17.”

More than $2,000 in prizes were awarded.
