Janell “Nellie” Daly passed away Oct. 31, 2015, with her loving family surrounding her in Richland, Wash., after a long battle with several medical conditions. She is survived by her four children — James Quinby, Tammie Quinby, Jeremy Quinby and Brent Quinby — as well as her two stepsons and stepdaughter, 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Nellie was born in Marshfield, Ore., to mother Maxine Erwin and father Micheal Ward. She was the sister to John Erwin, Joy Nelson, James Erwin, Jerry Hadley, Judy Erwin and Jeff Erwin. She graduated from Santa Rosa High, class of 1967, in Santa Rosa, Calif. Nellie made her home in Wallowa in 1978 with her husband Richard Daly and their seven children. She worked at Tom’s Auto for years, where she would greet anyone who walked in with a smile. She was an active member in the community. She was a member of the Church of Christ — her faith was her life. She also was a member of the IOOF Hall, the Red Hats Society, the Smart Reader program and the 4-H program. You could guarantee she would be in attendance at almost all school functions. She loved playing cards and visiting with friends.
She was a staple in the community helping teach and mentored many for the last thirty years. Nellie was a mother, grandmother, sister, friend and confidant for all in Wallowa County.
She was preceded in death by her mother Maxine, father Micheal, brother James, sister Joy and her husband Richard.
