of Jenny Reinheardt Joseph Charter School student Isabelle Tingelstad, running for Enterprise, heads toward a fifth-place finish at the District 5 championships in Pendleton.

The Enterprise cross country team had some stellar performances at the District 5 championship meet at McKay Park in Pendleton on Oct. 23. Several runners reached personal bests while the girls team has advanced to state.

Coach Dan Moody is impressed with the team’s progress this year.

“They ran really well, the whole team,” Moody said. “Especially our two freshman girls — Karli Bedard and Ella Coughlan. Our front-runners do their thing and I expect them to do it, but what the freshmen did was something else.”

A series of setbacks this season created a high level of uncertainty going into the meet.

“With all the things we had going on with injuries and sickness, I didn’t know who was going to be able to show up,” Moody said. “But as a team, they all showed up.”

Jacob Evarts ran his personal best for the boys team, and both Isabelle Tingelstad and Dawn Mist Movitch-Fields individually qualified for state as well as being members of the state-bound girls team. The state meet takes place Oct. 31 at Lane Community College in Eugene.

“We’re planning on having a lot more success at the state meet,” Moody said.
