“It was a good win. I’m proud of the kids, and they played really well,” he said.
Brockamp pointed to several players for game highlights, “Cole Hafer returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown, and Gus Ramsden returned an interception 105 yards for a touchdown.”
Offensively, Ramsden completed three of seven passes for 40 yards with the longest a 19-yard pass play. Noah Allen led the team in rushing with 86 yards on 14 carries with Chandler Burns hot on his heels with 84 yards on 16 carries.
Ramsden led the team defensively with eight tackles and three assists. Cole Hafer had five tackles and a sack, while teammate Travis Haga nailed the Pine Eagle quarterback three times. Gus Ramsden had one interception while Cole Hafer had two steals on the night. Both Hafer and teammate Patrick Ritthaler recovered fumbles for the Cougars.
The Cougars scored 16 points in the first quarter and never looked back. The hapless Pine Eagle team didn’t score until the third quarter and were already down 32-0 by that point.
The Cougars have a bye this week, but play their homecoming game against Powder Valley on Oct. 16. The team has a 2-0 record in league play and 3-1 overall. “We’re really excited about where we’re at and looking forward to homecoming,” Brockamp said.
