CJD queen coronation Saturday

Saturday, April 18, is the big day for contestants of the 70th Annual Chief Joseph Days rodeo court. Addie Kilgore, Mari Tracy-Mallory and Jesse-Ellen Woodhead are competing in the finals for the title CJD Queen at the Harley Tucker Rodeo Grounds.

The girls will compete in riding and public speaking. Their contestants’ respective ticket sales also figure into the outcome. The competition starts at 11 a.m. The competition is free and open to the public.

A dinner, dance and the queen’s coronation at the Joseph Community Center follows the competition. The dinner starts with a 5:30 p.m. social hour. Dinner, catered by T&T catering, starts at 6:30 p.m. The coronation ceremony starts at 8:30 p.m. with the dance following, which features the band Skyline.

Tickets for the dinner and coronation are $23, which includes free entrance to the dance. Tickets for the dance only are $5. Students with student body cards receive $1 off ticket prices. Tickets are available at Sports Corral, all three Community Bank branches and Joseph Chamber of Commerce.
