The second game saw the Joseph team fall apart under a virtual onslaught by the Bulldog bats. The Bulldogs scored nine in the second inning and 17 in third, mainly behind the hitting of Baker catcher Marcus Plumley, who homered in all three at-bats, including two grand slams and a three-run shot.
After one of Plumley’s round-trippers in the third, Joseph’s pitcher promptly hit the next batter in the head with the first pitch, nearly igniting a brawl with players, coaches and fans on both sides of the field hurling insults and accusations before the umpires restored order. Joseph Coach Calvin Word brought in another reliever while the Baker player sat out the rest of the game. The Eagles were on their fourth pitcher by the time the third inning ended.
The lone bright spots for the Eagles in the nightcap were a six-run fourth inning and turning a 6-4-3 double play. The Eagles had five hits in the game.
