Marlin Ellis Lakey, 89, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday evening, March 19, 2015, at his home in Twin Falls.
Marlin was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Soda Springs, Idaho, son of Maylan and Edna Lakey. He married Emma Jean Smith Nov. 19, 1943, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married 69 years. They lived in Soda Springs, Idaho, for many years before moving to Enterprise, Ore., where he operated an International Harvester Dealership. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and operated the Travel Lodge Motel for many years. They retired and enjoyed spending time together on many trips.
Marlin is survived by his five children, Connie Willett of Blaine, Wash.; Caren Mitchoff of Redmond, Ore.; LaRee Holscher of Redmond; Steve Lakey of Hazelton, Idaho; and Marty Lakey of Ketchum, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 69 years, Emma Jean.
The Funeral service for Marlin will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls, with military honors by the Magic Valley Honor Guard and Idaho National Guard Honor Guard. A viewing for family and friends will take place on Thursday evening from 6- 8 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Soda Springs Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho.
