By a majority of more than four to one, Enterprise voters on Monday decided to have sewers built at once. The vote was 125 in favor of the sewer bonds and 30 against. The bond issue authorized is not to exceed $20,000 and is to be used to construct septic tank, outlet and main trunk sewers for the city. Laterals will be built by property owners grouped in sewer districts along streets and alleys.
Ed Fisher, sought for several days as the man who shot Henry H. Stewart, former mayor of Copperfield, was captured by Sheriff Rand of Baker County on the Snake River last Thursday. Rand took the young man to the Imnaha, whence S.C. Himelwright brought him to Enterprise Friday. The hunt for Fisher attracted much attention all through the state, on account of the notoriety Copperfield received in the winter.
A carload of camp equipment, grading implements and general paraphernalia for use in construction work on the East Oregon Lumber companys new railroad to the north is on its way to Portland.
The June round-up was finished last week, and cattlemen who were out have returned to their farms or to town. One carload of fat dry cows has been sold by Haas and Graves to Warren Chandler for six cents. This is about the starting price last year.

About 50 Mexicans are due to arrive within the next two weeks to help out during the haying season according to County Agent Garnet Best. Crop prospects are quite poor due to the cold weather early in the season. Indications are that unless parasites or something cut into the grasshopper crop this year the infestation will be even greater than last year, according to Mr. Best.
Mrs. L.M. McGraw last week received a telegram from the government that her grandson, Blackie McElroy was missing in action in Italy. The same day she received a telegram from Blackie saying he was OK. On Tuesday she received a letter from Blackie saying he had been taken prisoner for three weeks, but escaped and was back with his own unit.
WALLOWA Mr. and Mrs. Alva J. Victor received an announcement stating that on April 20 Alan Dale Victor was awarded the air medal in recognition of meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight in the European theater. He completed the required number of sorties against the enemy, which is 25 or more missions.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Kooch are now at home in one of the Courtney apartments and were welcomed with a chivari party Saturday night. Mr. Kooch was forced to give his bride a wheel barrow ride up and down Main Street in Enterprise.

The Oregon State Board of Aeronautics met in Enterprise July 26 for their regular monthly meeting. Mr. Robert Dunn, director of the board, outlined the progress and schedule of improvements at Joseph airport. He said paving will get underway in August or September and improvements will cost about $70,000, with expenses shared by the state and the federal government.
The Enterprise Lions Club won a trophy at the Miss Oregon Pageant at Seaside last weekend for the most cleverly worded advertisement in the program. The wording of the winning ad composed by Elgin Cornett and Don Swart: A 4-point student from a 4-point county Miss Sue Ann McGraw, Wallowa, Oregon, as Miss Wallowa County. Photo caption Four Wallowa County Boy Scouts and their advisor Gene Boswell will leave tomorrow for three weeks at the National Boy Scout Camp at Valley Forge. They are Jerry and Mike Rahn, Jim Lewis and Ben Boswell.
Plans have been announced by the U.S. Forest Service for the construction of McGraw Lookout tower and house, 56 miles southeast of Joseph. The tower is a designed 82-foot structure and will replace an old 20-foot structure built in the early 30s.

A big parade, car show, frog jumping contest, barbecue and street dance are among headline events scheduled for the annual Wallowa Old-Time 4th of July Celebration to be held this Saturday, July 1. The traditional fireworks display, however, has been canceled due to the lack of a place to hold the popular spectacle.
A committee to pursue the idea of establishing a rural fire protection district for the Enterprise area was formed Monday night, following an informational meeting about such a district.
Joe and Rita Ehrler will celebrate the 20th birthday of their Wallowa Lake business, Matterhorn Swiss Village, July 1-3.
