Portland Housing Prices Climb – But Not As Fast As Before

Housing prices are still climbing in the Portland metro area – but not as quickly as earlier this year.

That’s according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index, released Tuesday.

Seasonally adjusted, Portland-area houses sold for 0.8 percent more in April than the previous month. Prices climbed 1.1 percent in March.

Nineteen of the 20 cities that Case-Shiller tracks saw prices climb less in April than in March. Boston was the only exception.

David Blitzer with S&P Dow Jones Indices said he expects housing prices to continue to climb in metro areas across the country – even if the pace is slower.
