Wallowa Valley Photo Club has released its new calendar, an annual event since 1989, with a redesign that allowed the club to include more photographs and represent more photographers. Along with the scenic photos Wallowa Valley Photo Club is famous for, the new design for 2015 also promotes the people, country life and events of Wallowa County.
Each month has been created with such themes as flowers, ranching and the Nez Perce. All four seasons are embraced, showing Wallowa County at its finest. There are local people, wild animals, farm animals, classic landscapes and much, much more.
Contributing photographers are Trena Jones, Emily Jones, Debbie Lind, Marilyn Goebel, Jan Casey, Jean Falbo, Linda Eytchison, Eric Valentine, Marietta Herinckx, Donna Smith, Cat Burnett, Bonnie Deitrich, David Gilbert, Michael Caine, Harold Black, and Francis Buckles.
The only contributing photographer who was also featured in the first, black-and-white 1990 photo calendar is Linda Eytchison, who now serves as photo club president.
The club, formed by a group of local shutter-bugs, became a non-profit corporation in 1989 with the mission statement: To promote and educate the art and science of photography.
Members had a collection of black-and-white photos on hand, and decided to produce a calendar. It sold well, and put the fledgling organization financially in the black. So began an annual project, with the club making the leap to color in 1992.
The cost for the 2015 calendars is $13.95 each and they are available through the Wallowa Valley Photo Club website, www.wallowavalleyphotoclub.com, and at local businesses.
