In Third Officer-Involved Shooting In 3 Days, Portland Police Kill Man With Crowbar

Two veteran Portland Police officers shot and killed a man Thursday morning on the Johnson Creek bike path in Southeast Portland. It is the third officer involved shooting in the city in as many days.
Two East Precinct officers responded to a 911 call from a pedestrian reporting a robbery or assault around 104th and foster.
Police spokesman Sergeant Pete Simpson said the officers found an adult male suspect on the bike path and started questioning him.
“And without provocation, the suspect attacked the officers with a large crowbar.”
The officers tried to back away, Simpson said, but one fell down. The suspect continued to swing the crowbar and one of the officers shot and killed him. Simpson says the officers were not injured but have been placed on paid leave while police investigate the incident.
Simpson says the past week has been unusually eventful for the police and traumatic for Portland.
