Toddler Wandering In Street Saved By TriMet Bus Driver

TriMet bus driver Bill Clark was driving his route in Gresham around 8 a.m. last week when he saw a little boy walking toward busy Division Street. Clark said when he didn’t see any adults with the child, he pulled over and got off the bus to make sure everything was OK. The 2-year-old was barefoot, wearing only a t-shirt and a diaper.
From the bus’ surveillance video, you can see Clark talking to the boy before taking his hand and leading him onto the bus. TriMet instructed Clark to go to the Gresham Transit Center to meet with workers from the Department of Human Services.

While waiting, Clark sweetly gives the little boy some hot chocolate and a cookie.
Not long after, the boy was reported missing — his father had worked a late shift and was sleeping when the boy wandered out of the family’s apartment. KGW reports that the child’s parents were interviewed by DHS staffers, but were not charged.
