The Wallowa Valley Youth Arts Festival will celebrate its 25th year by filling the Joseph Community Center with student artwork and music this Saturday, May 3.
The public is encouraged to support the countys young artists in kindergarten through high school by admiring hundreds of pieces of their artwork between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The show includes an artists reception starting at 2 p.m. For three consecutive years, more than 500 pieces of art have been entered in the festival art show.

There will be hands-on arts and crafts activities for the younger children.
Among student musicians expected to perform between noon and 3 p.m. are Kai and Kana Oliver, followed by students of Heidi Muller and Bob Webb. The program continues with Madison Lindsey and Joe Princena, Alex Coutant and Wallowa High School choir members.
Art should be dropped off Thursday, May 1, at Uptown Art in Joseph, Gypsy Java in Enterprise or The Blonde Strawberry in Wallowa, or brought in to the Joseph center from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 2.
Cash prizes of $25 each will be awarded for the Judges Choice and Peoples Choice awards. Selected by three teams of two judges each, 15 percent of the art will receive blue ribbons, 25 percent red ribbons and 60 percent white ribbons in each age division.
There will also be three honorable mentions selected by show directors Will Roundy and Leah Svendsen. The awards presentation is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. There are so many great pieces, it is very hard to judge. Be the judges yourself and vote for Peoples Choice on the day of the show, the judges said.
Festival sponsor for the 25th year is the Wallowa Valley Arts Council. There is no admission charge, though donations are always welcome.
