Evelyn M. Wagner, 94, passed away Jan. 23, 2014, at the Wallowa Valley Senior Living Center in Enterprise.

Evelyn was born Dec. 30, 1919, at home on Alder Slope, the oldest of three daughters born to Vinita and Harley Murrey.

She married Jack Wagner on Dec. 25, 1941. They had two children, Ron Wagner and Julie Wagner Butner.

The couple lived most of their lives in Enterprise, with the exception of a short period of time in Salt Lake City, Utah, during WWII and seven years in Spokane, Wash.

Evelyn went to work at for the Chevrolet dealer in Enterprise after graduation from Enterprise High School. She worked for the Chevrolet dealership through three different owners before joining her husband in Wagners Mens Store.

She was a member of the Enterprise Community Congregational Church and active in many Enterprise and Wallowa County organizations. She was a lifelong member of the local PEO chapter.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, daughter Julie Butner and sister Geraldine.

Those surviving her are son Ron Wagner and wife Jackie, son-in-law John Butner, sister Reita Locket, sister-in-law Lois Jones, six grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a yet-to-be-determined time in the spring.
