Following about 15 years of consecutive wins against wrestlers from small Union County schools in multi-school dual matches, the combined Enterprise/Joseph and Wallowa team suffered a 36-24 loss in Union last Thursday, Jan. 23.

The local mat-men only could muster victory in five of the 14 weight classes, with one of those nods coming at 106 lbs. where Clayne Miller of Enterprise/Joseph won by forfeit.

Posting on-mat wins for the Wallowa County team were Daniel Parker at 160 lbs., Jared Wilcox at 170 lbs., Wyatt Warnock at 220 lbs., and Daniel Kohlhepp at 285 lbs. All four wrestle for EHS/JHS, with Parker and Wilcox winning by decisions and Warnock and Kohlhepp by pins.

A rugged match was held at 182 lbs. where Matthew Staigle of Enterprise/Joseph was decisioned by Chad Witty, of Union/Cove.

Wallowa High School took two wrestlers to the dual meet with Patrick Rummel losing at 138 lbs. and the second Cougar grappler failing to make weight, thus was limited to competing in exhibition matches.
