The Enterprise Outlaw boys basketball team lost two in a row last week, first falling to Elgin in an away game on Tuesday, Jan 7, 58-72 , and then losing to Union at home Saturday, 42-51.

Enterprise vs. Elgin

Coach Jeff Micka said, We started out strong and when Kaden Lathrop got in foul trouble in the second period, we faltered and lost the heart of our defense. Lathrops fouls came on the offensive side of the game and he was called on a couple of charges. We lost our intensity, Micka added.

Enterprise was ahead at the end of the first period 14 to 11. In the second quarter the Huskies went on top scoring 19 to the Outlaws 12. In the second half of the game Elgin outscored Enterprise 44 to 32.

Without Lathrop under the basket the Huskies were making some pretty easy shots. Also added to the misery, Elgin hit 9 of 15 three point shots.

Damon Greenshields was the leading scorer with 29 points, and David Ribich was next with 11; Cody White scored 10, and Kaden had 8 points with 9 assists.

Enterprise vs. Union

This may sound like a broken record, but again in the Union game Lathrop was called for his third foul late in the second quarter. We lost our size and Union took advantage of it, Micka said.

The Outlaw boys were ahead after one quarter of play with a score of 12-11. It was the second quarter that killed them, when the Bobcats scored 19 to Enterprises 10. Enterprise kept it respectable in the third period scoring 8 to 8. In the fourth period again Enterprise kept it close, but lost the quarter 12-13, and the game.

The boys practice hard and play hard, we go on a pretty good stretch, then we turn the ball over three or four times and we lose our confidence and momentum, Coach Micka said,

Kaden was the leading scorer against Union with 13, David Ribich was next with 12 and Damon 10, Christian Ruckdashel, Justin Exon, and Cody White contributed the rest.

With a 1- 5 league standings, the EHS boys hope to get back on track this weekend, playing the 3-3 Grant Union team Friday Jan. 17, in John Day and the 2-5 Heppner Mustangs on Saturday. Both games are away.
