Marcelle McCrae Reavis of Portland, a native of Wallowa County, died Dec. 24, 2013, at the age of 79.
She was born Nov. 2, 1934, to Roland McCrae and Inez Roberts McCrae in a farmhouse on Upper Diamond Prairie in Wallowa.
She attended school and graduated from Wallowa High School in 1953.
On Dec. 23, 1953, she married Roland Reavis at the Wallowa Christian Church, with Rev. Jones performing the ceremony.
Roland was in the Air Force station stationed at Cloves, N.M., where they made their home until discharge. They then moved to Enterprise where their first son, Randy, was born. They then moved to Seattle, Wash., where Roland worked for Boeing.
They wanted to be closer to Wallowa, so Roland got a job with Southern Pacific Railroad in Portland until his death.
Marcelle then started coming to Wallowa in the winters to help with her mother. She did this for eight years.
Marcelle was known for her beautiful embroidery. When in Wallowa she loved playing cards and going to the coffee shop with her friends. She really enjoyed watching her niece, Kim, play basketball.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Randy Reavis, Mark and Linda Reavis and Reid and Renee Reavis; grandson, Raemon Reavis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oran and Gloria McCrae, Marvin McCrae and Darrell and Martha Reavis; sisters Phyllis Conner and Coralie Howell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials services were held Jan. 4, 2013, at the Wallowa Christian Church.
