Local kid wrestlers among ORWAY tourney champs

Seven champions emerged last weekend from the 13 young wrestlers of the Northeast Oregon Wrestling Club who traveled from Wallowa County to Pendleton to compete in the ORWAY Eastern Regional Tournament.

The tournament included 19 teams and 278 wrestlers, according to NEOWC coach Troy Farwell.

Wallowa County winners in first place matches at the meet were:

Gus Ramsden, who won by a decision over Patrick Workman of the Tri-Cities club; Steven Beckman, won by a fall over Nathaniel Tovar of the Mat Rattlers; Calum Wilcox, won by a fall over Jacob Mosley of the Pendleton club; Zeb Ramsden, won by major decision over Justin McCord, Tri-Cities; Trace Evans, won by decision over Ryan Stubblefield, of the La Grande club; Lute Ramsden, won by decision over Isael Duran, Baker Wrestling; and Gunnar McDowell, won by decision over Josiah Garza of the Othello Wrestling Club.
