Much taller than their in-county rivals, the Enterprise Outlaw boys team bested Wallowa 46-30 last Wednesday night, Dec. 4, in EHSs Quinn Court. The game was the season-opener for both squads and 65 Enterprise junior Kaden Lathrop drove through and shot over the shorter Cougars for a total of 16 points.
Enterprise coach Jeff Micka said the first game of the season was sloppy at times with a high number of turnovers. That was especially true in the third period when the two teams, combined, scored a total of only eight points. Trying to install a high-fueled fast break offense, Micka said his team occasionally showed its potential during a contest where the Outlaws led 23-16 at halftime, but oftentimes was slowed by first-game mistakes.
Senior Chaz Murray led the Cougars offensively with eight points, complimented by freshman Chandler Burns who scored six.
The only double-digit scorer in the contest other than Lathrop was Enterprise senior David Ribich who scored 10 points.
The Outlaws outscored Wallowa in all four quarters of the game, steadily widening a 14-10 advantage erected by the end of the first eight minutes of play.
Score by Quarter:
Wallowa 10 6 3 1130
Enterprise 14 9 5 1846
