Fishtrap Fireside to showcase writers

ENTERPRISE Fishtrap Fireside will host three local writers from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Fishtrap house, 400 E. Grant St., Enterprise.
The monthly fireside will feature readings by Rick Bombaci, Cameron Scott and Mary Ellen Emerick, followed by an open mic reading.

Upcoming writers include Zanni Schauffler, Liz Enslin and Jon Rombach. The community is encouraged to attend.
Following is a little background on each of the featured readers:
Rick Bombaci grew up in rural Connecticut. After a brief stint living and working in Portland, he moved to Wallowa County, where hes been ever since. Rick has worked in order as a USFS wilderness ranger, a waiter, a bicycle mechanic, a high school teacher, a computer consultant, a grant writer, a nonprofit consultant, and a USFS wilderness ranger. He is former executive director and development director of Fishtrap.
He has one daughter and a number of obsessions, including long-distance hiking. Among his accomplishments is being a thru-hiker on the Appalachian Trail.
Cameron Scott is an editor, contributing editor and contributor to various newspapers, magazines and journals including High Country News, The Ski Journal, The Flyfish Journal, The Drake and The Sopris Sun.
Mary Ellen Emerick has been a firefighter, a wilderness ranger, and a naturalist in 11 states. She moved from Alaska to Wallowa County in 2009. Her essays have been published in several magazines and anthologies. In 2010 she was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for one of her essays, and she was a finalist for the High Desert Journal Non-Fiction Prize in 2011. Emerick is now working on a novel and a memoir. When she isnt writing she can be found somewhere in the mountains.
