Three dozen tee up at AM Ladies invitational

Under a sunny Tuesday morning sky after an evening thunder and lightning storm the golf course buzzed with anticipation as 36 women gathered to compete in Alpine Meadows Ladies annual invitational tournament. Besides 20 local members, 16 lady golfers traveled from Baker, La Grande and Buffalo Peak at Union.

When the horn sounded at nine, groups in teams of four were ready to tee off on each of the nine holes with individuals vying for their own score.

Besides competing for coveted low gross/net, golfers were challenged on several holes with KP and closest to the line, longest putt and longest drive.

Drawings for a 50/50 and a raffle for a nights stay at Wildhorse with two rounds of golf tempted the gals to purchase chances. You could also buy mulligans.

As a good drive feeds a golfers ego, food replenishes the bodys energy and there was plenty of finger food to enjoy. Janie Wiggins, Donna McCadden, Dorothy Pace, and Rosie Reynolds served as hostesses on the turn-around at the clubhouse.

After 18 holes of golf, the gals gathered for a luncheon served by Julie Sears. During that time the place buzzed with golf stories… what should a, what could a, and what would a happened if only… !
