OBITUARY: Stephen Isley

Stephen Andrew Isley, 59, a Wallowa County native, died July 28, 2013, at Wallowa Valley Senior Living Center in Enterprise, just short of what would have been his 60th birthday.

Steve was born Sept. 25, 1953, to parents Manford and Vera Isley at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. He was born with occipital hydrocephalus and a local doctor did not hold much hope for his survival.

Steve attended Joseph Elementary School and had several years of perfect attendance. He graduated from Joseph High School, receiving a diploma through special education. Steve participated in the wrestling program and received a plaque.

Steve was married to Wanda Christine Hatch. They later divorced.

He was a member of the Joseph Baptist Church, which he attended faithfully until the family was forced to take him to the care center in Enterprise.

Steve was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Steve is survived by his parents; siblings: sister, Nancy and brother-in-law Dean Parker of Athena, their daughters, Sarah and husband Jacob Grubenhaugh, and their children, Mackinzie and Rawley of Pasco, Wash., Amy Parker and Stuart Swearingen of Pendleton; brother, Brian Isley and Dreema Lotze of Kalispell, Mont., Brians daughters, Sadie and Hanley Kennedy and their daughter Edie Jane of Enterprise, Emily and Tyler Nall of Bend; sister, Sandra Bauermeister (late husband, Chet Bauermeister) and her children, Katelin and Joshua of Basin City, Wash.; six uncles and their wives and families; one aunt and her children and families; many other relatives, and numerous friends. He had no children.

Steve did not know a stranger. He loved to visit, tell stories, laugh, and most of all talk.

His memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Joseph Baptist Church with fellowship following. Bollman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
