Elks’ Zumwalt raffle bull elk

photo Keith McFarland of Joseph, owner of Action Outdoors in Enterprise, shows off the six-point elk he shot in the second bull elk season on the Nature Conservancy's Zumwalt Prairie property after winning an owner-preference tag in a drawing conducted by the Enterprise Elks Lodge. The Nature Conservancy donates an elk tag (and a deer tag) every year to local organizations, and McFarland is the only local hunter to win one of the coveted tags so far. "Awesome" is how he described the hunting experience, with Cory Miller acting as guide. He said he could have shot a big elk in the first 10 minutes of the hunt, but wanted to extend the experience and passed up many other opportunities over a two-day period before shooting this big bull.
