Delores Dee Denney, a former Wallowa County resident, died March 11, 2012, in St. Helens, Oregon, at age 87.

She was born in Colfax, Wash., to W. Hollis and Mamie Miller. In 1928 her family purchased a farm on Alder Slope where Delores attended grade school. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1942.

She married Delbert Dale Denney on July 9, 1946, in Milwaukie, Ore.

Her work life included working at the Wallowa County Chieftain and the William Ortman accounting firm. In 1947, she became bookkeeper for the Richfield oil distributorship that her husband owned.

Besides actively supporting her three childrens music and sporting activities, Delores was a member of Soroptimists International and served as the secretary of the Alpine Meadows Golf Club in Enterprise.

She had a great love of animals from an early age, raising several Norwegian Elkhound dogs and showing them at regional dog shows. Her hobbies included golf, watercolor painting, and music.  

 Delores is survived by her husband, Delbert, a resident at The Avamere memory care, St. Helens; children, Kevin Denney of Eugene and Kay Denney of Sherwood; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Susan Miller of Vancouver, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jana Denney, grandson Kyle Rowell, brother Wayne C. Miller, mother-in-law Doris Denney, sister and brother-in-law Cora Mae and James OConnor and brother-in-law Robert Denney.

Interment was at the Eagle Point National Cemetery near Medford. Memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF New York, N.Y.) or NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness).
