ELGIN-The Enterprise Outlaws football team muzzled the host Elgin Huskies by a final score of 34-8, last Friday evening, Oct. 21. Once again, the Outlaws (5-1, 4-0 Blue Mountain Conference) relied upon a stingy defense and a fleet running game to bring home their fourth straight league victory.

Outlaws head coach Mike Rowley is quick to give credit for his team’s success and run atop the Blue Mountain Conference.

“My assistant football coaches are football geniuses. Sam Magera and I have coached together for the last two years and he is one of the most football-savvy people I have met. Rusty Eschler has coached for quite a few years and brings knowledge and experience to the program that we couldn’t do without. Bob Masters is a student of the game and has the kids’ best interest at heart. We all work well together and have similar philosophies,” Rowley said.

“Marcus (Lynn) ran well again and we mixed in a decent passing attack,” Rowley said of his team’s offensive effort against the Huskies (1-7, 1-4 BMC).

Rowley made mention of another winning performance from his offensive line. “The O-line picked it up against a bigger team,” he said.

Defensively, the Outlaws once again limited their opponents to single figures.

“We made some adjustments for Elgin and other than one drive, we pretty much shut them down,” Rowley noted.

“I want to mention the younger kids too. They’ve come out and practiced hard and don’t get much praise. At practice, they run the offensive sets of our opponents and they are an integral part of the team,” Rowley said.

Next, the Outlaws travel to play the Stanfield Tigers (3-4, 2-2 BMC), Friday, Oct. 28. Stanfield is coming off a 46-0 loss to the Weston-McEwen Tiger Scots, who boast an undefeated record and remain in a first-place tie with the Enterprise Outlaws in the BMC. The Outlaws line up against the Tiger Scots at home for the final league game showdown, Friday, Nov. 4.
