Eagles celebrate homecoming

JOSEPH – Spirit and enthusiasm have been building at Joseph High School all this week, as students approach their volleyball and football homecoming games Friday, Oct. 14.
Pre-game Homecoming Week activities will culminate today (Thursday, Oct. 13) with the traditional Olympiad competition among the classes in the school gym from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the traditional bonfire outside the school 7 to 8 p.m.
“The Olympiad and Bonfire are the highlight of homecoming,” JHS principal Sherri Kilgore said. “It’s been a tradition at Joseph for over 30 years.”
Homecoming volleyball games against Imbler are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Friday, with football action at 7 p.m. The crowning of a homecoming queen and king is set during halftime.
Homecoming court members, all seniors, include: Paige Hunting, Ali Garrett, Charli Doss, Jade DeLury, Trevor Lewis, Anthony Smallen, BJ Warnock and Cole Warnock.
The court was introduced at an assembly Monday, when the student body voted for king and queen.
Every day has been dress-up day this week. Monday was designated Opposite Sex Day, when girls dressed as boys and boys as girls; Tuesday, Generation Day; Wednesday, Superhero/Villain Day; and Thursday, Spirit Day (blue-and-gold).
The last event of Homecoming Week will be the semi-formal homecoming dance, from after the football game to midnight.
