Cheryl Jean Brown, 62, of La Grande, a former Joseph resident, died Aug. 12, 2011, at Grande.

Cheryl was born Oct. 20, 1948, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Robert Leo Brown and Dolores Belle Jeffery Brown.

She lived with her family in many places throughout her life, including Joseph, La Pine, Silver Lake, Christmas Valley, and Lakeview Terrace, Calif.

Cheryl was in employed with New Day Enterprises in La Grande for 16 years. She earned numerous Special Olympic Awards in track and many bowling awards. She enjoyed reading, writing and working at New Day. Her favorite sports were bowling and swimming.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leo Brown; her grandparents, Robert McCormick Brown and Helen Catherine Brown; and her aunt, Gloria Jean Piazza.

She is survived by her cousins, Michael and Sandy Piazza of Clarkston, Wash.; and Catherine Johnston of Salem.

The family is planning a memorial service that will be announced at a later date. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Silver Lake. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
