Velma Hescock

Velma L. (Trump) Hescock died April 22, 2011, at the age of 94 at the Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise.

She was born in Wallowa on Independence Day in 1916 to John (Okey) Russell Trump and Cordelia (Vest) Trump.

She grew up in Wallowa and graduated there in 1935 as valedictorian of her class. After her school days, she picked hops with her sister and her sisters husband in Washington, and also worked as a waitress.

On March 27, 1938, she married Glenn Ward Hescock. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, oil and tole painting, crafts, and was known for her Sunday dinners. She loved huckleberry picking and going on picnics with family members.

She is survived by her brother Gerald Trump and his wife Cathryn of Wallowa, sons Keith Hescock of La Grande and Dennis Hescock and his wife Cathy of Kamiah, Idaho,, daughters Judy Hafer of La Grande and Glenda Bennett and her husband Vernon of Enterprise; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents;  husband Glenn; brothers Bill, Clarence and Elmer Trump; sister Elsie Stark; grandson Mitch Bennett; and great-granddaughter Dalina DeVore.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise, with burial in the Wallowa Cemetery.
