Kellermans to be grand marshals

JOSEPH CJD sponsors and boosters Ron and Deb Kellerman were named 2011 grand marshals during a high point of the evening.

Darlene Turner, a former CJD grand marshal, revealed Ron and Debbie Kellerman, longtime Wallowa County business owners, as 2011 grand marshals.

Were just overwhelmed with the honor weve received, said Deb Kellerman about the grand marshal title. There are just not enough words to say how we feel.

The couples two businesses, Kellerman Logging (founded in 1977) and Debs Apparel and Gifts (1992) sponsored CJDs popular bull riding event for 30 years, and Debs fielded a Hawaiian themed float for 10 years.

The couple chaperoned for the court in 1996, and Deb Kellerman sold souvenirs, helped in the hospitality tent and sold tickets as a volunteer through the years.

The Kellermans are almost Wallowa County natives. While Ron was born here, Deb moved here from Baker City when she was a yearling after her father, Robert Clegg, became band teacher in Enterprise High School. Ron was a 1966 graduate, while she graduated in 1972; they met when he returned from Vietnam and married in 1977.
