Joseph boys relay sets new season high

JOSEPH The boys teamed up to run their fastest four laps of this season at the Baker Relays. Joseph High Schools quartet completed the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes and 1.79 seconds. That was good enough for third place, behind Enterprise.
Josephs track and field team had several other strong performances April 8 in Baker City. Junior Lucas Staigle took second place in pole vault. The boys sprint medley was third.
The long-distance relay was one of several team records set by the boys. In discus, junior Anthony Smallen made his farthest throw ever at 115 feet and 10 inches. He took sixth place. Meanwhile, senior Caleb Bright had his best throw of this season, sending a discus 93 feet. Freshman Wyatt Warnock set a new season high in javelin, throwing it 105 feet.
Meanwhile, junior Rebecca Cummins took fifth place in the girls javelin. Freshman Felicity Gross was seventh in long jump. She also was eighth in high jump, at 4 feet and matched her best effort of the season. The girls 4×200-meter relay was sixth.
