Enterprise boasts top throwers at Baker

ENTERPRISE Sophomore Jordan Widener and junior Erich Roepke scored the top two throws in boys javelin at the Baker Relays. Widener won first place by sending the javelin 135 feet and 11 inches, setting his own personal record in the event. Roepke ended up second with a 134-01.
The high schools track-and-field team produced several successful performances April 8 in Baker City, especially in field events.
Sophomore Jennifer Wood won the girls shot put. She made her best throw of this season, sending the ball 33-01.5.
Junior Stephen Quarrey took second place in the boys discus. His throw of 128-11 established a new personal record. Roepke was third, about five inches shorter.
Widener combined his victory in the javelin with third place in long jump. Meanwhile, senior Chaunce Galletly made his best long jump of the season, soaring 18-01.5 and taking eighth place.
Likewise, sophomore Dustin Dean had his best high jump at 5-04. That scored fifth place. Junior Duncan Christman made his longest throw of the shot put, 30-04.
As for the girls, senior Stephanie Hunter took third place in javelin with a throw of 74-08. Sophomore Landra Skovlins throw, 61-00, set a new personal record.
Meanwhile, Enterprise was strong on the track. The boys 4×400-meter relay finished in second place. The 4×100 and the distance medley both ended up in third place. The sprint medley took fourth.
One of the long-distance runners, freshman David Ribich, ran the following afternoon in Boardman at the Riverside Invitational. He set new personal records in both the 1,500-meter race and the 3,000. He completed the 1,500 in 4:37.21, which took fourth place. His time in the longer marathon, 10:11.42, was good enough for third place.
Next, Enterprise will compete April 15 at La Grande.
