Hula workshop planned at Point of Connection

Anyone whos ever wanted to learn the hula will have their opportunity when Janine Kovsky, instructor of Hawaiian dance, comes to Wallowa County to teach her Hula Praise Workshop.
The workshop is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Point of Contact (Wallowa County Family Youth Center), 83346 Joseph Highway north of Joseph.

Her class is open to both women and men, from age 8 to 80. The cost is $10, with family discounts available. For information or to register: 661-965-7915 or jrkavosky@earthlink.net.
The three-hour class will include learning the basics of Hawaiian dance, practice combinations and a complete praise hula. Participants will also learn aspects of Hawaiian culture, and the source of praise hula, which is how the native dance of Hawaii was reinstated in the late nineteenth century.
Kovosky, an adjunct faculty member at Lewis-Clark State College and the University of Idaho, is also a well a trustee for the Antelope Valley Movement Arts Foundation.
This workshop is just one of many programs supported by the Point of Connection.
