JOSEPH Donna Warnock is the new city recorder/administrator for the city of Joseph.

Warnock was selected unanimously by the Joseph City Council to fill the position at a meeting Monday, March 21.

Warnock, who has worked as assistant to the city recorder for 17 years, will start her new job April 1. Warnock will succeed Noma McDaniel, who has been city recorder for 15 years, and plans to retire as of April 30.

This makes the transition much easier, McDaniel said. Donna and I work very well together and she already knows most of what I do. Shes filled in for me in the past.

Warnock was selected by the council upon the recommendation of a council subcommittee made up of Troy Berglund, Roxanne Delillo and Pearl Sturm.

The committee felt she was the best choice, mainly because of her experience and knowledge of city hall, Berglund said.

Warnock was selected from among 15 applicants.

In February, the council expanded the role of the city recorder to include supervision authority over all city personnel. The official title was changed from McDaniels city recorder/treasurer to city recorder/administrator.

I was happy and also relieved to have it decided, Warnock said.

Warnock started working for the city in June 1993, when her two children, Mariah and Christopher, now 19 and 15, were young. Her husband, Kevin, later became a council member and then mayor. He excused himself from any discussion involving her job.

Weve worked together on the budget for years, McDaniel said of the coming budgeting season.

However, she said that the budget will still be the biggest learning curve for Warnock during the month their jobs overlap.

The city is currently looking for applicants for the Joseph Budget Committee.
