Philip Raymond Morgan, 91, a longtime resident of Coos Bay and former veterinarian in Enterprise, died Feb. 26, 2011, in Seattle, Wash.
He was born in Marshfield to William and Anne (Smith) Morgan.

He attended Coos River School, graduating in 1937. He went on to major in forestry at Oregon State University, where he graduated in 1941. He later attended the Veterinary College at Washington State University, graduating in 1951.
Dr. Morgan worked sorting logs on the boom after graduation from OSU until December 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged in 1945 after attaining the rank of petty officer first class as a pharmacists mate.
He met his wife, Anna Patricia Glennon, in Bethesda, Md., while both were in the Navy, and were married Nov. 10, 1945, in Bethesda. They moved back to Oregon in the winter of 1945-46, and he worked for the Bureau of Land Management in McMinnville.
He attended veterinary school from 1947 to 1951. After graduation, he moved to Enterprise, where he worked with his brother, Doug, who also was a veterinarian. He stayed in Enterprise until 1955, when he moved back to Coos Bay and opened Morgan Veterinary Hospital. He retired in 1991.
Dr. Morgan served as president of Oregon Veterinary Medical Association and of Intermountain Veterinary Medical Association and was a longtime member of the Oregon Veterinary Board. He was active in the program to include Oregon students in the WSU veterinary school. He was an active member of Rotary and Elks in Coos Bay and on the board of the Belloni Ranch.
After the death of Anna, his wife of 64 years, he moved to Seattle to be with his son and daughter-in-law.

His hobbies included hunting, mechanical tinkering, gardening, knots of every type, hunting, helping to entertain his grandsons and teaching them to hunt.
Philip is survived by his son, Phil G. Morgan, and daughter-in-law, Margaret Sedensky, of Seattle, Wash.; brother Douglas Morgan of Imnaha; grandsons, Christopher Morgan of Bellingham, Wash., and Richard Morgan of Amherst, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife Anna, sister Wilma and his parents.
A Mass of Christian burial was held March 5 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in North Bend. Memorial donations may be sent to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
Arrangements were under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel.
