Editor:

For many months, yes, even years, various media and individuals keep referring to our government, and others, as a democracy. We are NOT a democracy. America is a Constitutional Federated Republic.

There are untold references to wanting to help other nations become a democracy and when we say that it is meaningless We are not doing any country a favor unless we help them establish a Republic just like ours because it is the best in the world. Nothing, no one, compares to the U.S.A. when it comes to our representative system. We have (so far) the most freedom and a climate where free enterprise flourishes in spite of the socialist-minded among us.

If anyone were to just stop and think a bit they would quickly conclude that socialism is a stifling and free-enterprise killing, boring form of government. We need to listen carefully to those running for office and look deeply into what they really believe not always what they say. President Obama kept calling for CHANGE and people bought the line, not even realizing that it was a meaningless slogan. To me, it seems like he wants to change our system. No way! Our system of economic freedom, better known as the free market, is the best and we do not want Fabian Socialism, born in England, nor Progressivism, both which are pretty much identical.

In the last few months, I have heard only two that referred to our system correctly, Glen Beck on Fox News and our local editor of THE CHIEFTAIN, Chuck Anderson. In an editorial several weeks back he referred to our system as a Republic and I was somewhat stunned, yet thankful he had it right! Now I see that he is retiring and I am very sorry to see that. He was fair and objective. I was privileged to meet him on several occasions at the monthly meetings with the editor. He is a fine gentleman with a great sense of humor. He also displayed an unbelievable amount of tolerance in that he actually let my letters go to print!
