Revolutionary War times came to life in the Enterprise School fifth-grade classroom last week.

Students finished off their study of the period by coming to class in costume, impersonating  someone from that era of history.

They invited family members to enjoy the Jan. 20 living history lesson.

Each student earlier took on the identity of a real person who was important in early American history to better understand the thoughts and feelings of the patriots.

During the classroom finale,  they shared props, foodand read from the journals they kept in their guise as revolutionaries.

Many students were so involved with their characters that they cheered when we reached the end of the war, fifth grade teacher Lorri Fischer said. Its an amazing subject.

Among characters represented by the young historians were George  Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, John and Abigail Adams, Sam Adams, John Paul Jones, Mary Ludwig Hayes, Benjamin Franklin and Phillis Wheatley.
