Participation in the 2010 Wallowa County Fair open class show in Cloverleaf Hall was up substantially from last year, according to fairgrounds manager Randy Garnett.

“We were really happy with the response this year,” Garnett said. “We were up by a third. … In the past few years we’ve had about 100 exhibitors and this year there were 136.”

Garnett attributed the response to more promotion, publication of the fair premium book in the Wallowa County Chieftain and a grant from the Soroptimist International of Wallowa County that restored the payment of fair premiums to ribbon winners.

Cloverleaf Hall was festively decorated for the theme “Make it Your Fair” during the 2010 fair, held July 31 to Aug. 7.
