It’s time for Wallowa County’s weekend photographers to pick their favorite images for the 2010 Wallowa County Digital Photo Contest.

Submissions for the contest will be accepted from Jan. 1 through 31.

This will be the third annual edition of the popular contest sponsored jointly by the Wallowa Valley Photo Club and the Wallowa County Chieftain. Winners will be announced in the Feb. 25 Chieftain.

The contest attracted 232 entries – 180 in the adult division and 52 in the student division – in its second year.

The contest is open to all amateur photographers who are either full- or part-time residents of Wallowa County. All entries must be digital, although prints or slides may be scanned to create digital entries.

There are two divisions: adult (age 18 and older) and student. Cash prizes of $40, $20 and $10 will be awarded in each division for the top three winners in two judging categories, Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice.

Entries will be displayed on the Chieftain website (www.wallowa.com) as soon as possible after they are received. Online voting for the People’s Choice award will take place Feb. 1 through 15.

Each photographer may enter as many as five images, with each photograph of a distinct subject. The photos may be of any subject, as long as they are suitable for publication.

Digital photos may be emailed to (wallowaphoto@gmail.com). CDs may be mailed to The Wallowa Valley Photo Club, P.O. Box 1055, Joseph, OR 97846. CDs may also be dropped off at the Chieftain office, 209 NW 1st Street, Enterprise.

Rules and procedures will be available on the Chieftain website and at the Chieftain office. Submission forms will also be on the website or can be picked up at the Chieftain.
