The festively decorated house of Lanis and Margo Peppers at 503 Kurtz St. was the first-place winner of Enterprise’s 2009 Christmas Holiday Lights Contest.
The house – featuring not only lots of lights, but a couple of bright snowmen, a small Nativity scene and a life-sized animatronic Santa Claus greeter at the front door – earned its owners a $100 prize in the contest, which was sponsored by Pacific Power and the Enterprise Merchants Winterfest Committee.
Second prize of $75 went to Larry and Linda Lorscheider at 102 Halee St., and $50 went to third-place winner Minnie Fregulia at 109 Hyland Drive.
The winners were selected by a judging committee on the basis of originality, creativity and overall lighting theme.
County residents can drive around town to enjoy these holiday houses and others entered in the contest.
Other entries included: Will and Susy Lehr, 907 Hamel Dr.; Steve and Gloria Smith, 315 NE Park St.; John and Lorinda Tripp, 65355 Hurricane Creek Rd.; Lee and Marge Stockton, 313 E. Park St.; John and Jill Arbogast, 1003 SE First Ave.; Larry and Davise McFetridge, 65572 Rancho Rd.; Derrell and Clarann Witty, 65156 Mawhin Rd.; Russ and Karlene Gomes, 65452 Hurricane Creek Rd.; and Mike and Shelly Grover, 408 Montclair St.
In announcing the contest winners, the Winterfest committee expressed its appreciation to participating home owners’ efforts “to make this holiday season one of hope and peace by bringing the joy of Christmas to Enterprise.”
