McWaters, Sherod win matches

Joseph High School sophomore Trevor McWaters won two of his wrestling matches and freshman Blake Sherod scored a pin fall Dec. 10 in a meet at Elgin.

In addition to some success, coach Randy Garnett noted the improvement of freshman Shaun Claypool has made in his first try at the sport: “He’s liking it more and more, which is important for learning what he needs to do to get better.”

Next, Joseph will return to Elgin on Dec. 18.

Garnett named top scoutIdaho University’s football team honored Ben Garnett – a red-shirt freshman and a 2008 graduate from Joseph High School – as the special teams’ Scout Player of the Year, during a Dec. 12 awards ceremony.
