Sgt. Dan Daggett, a native of Joseph, is serving his second tour of duty in Iraq with the Oregon National Guard.
He was living with his family in Joseph and serving as a chaplain’s assistant with the 3rd Battalion of the 116th Armored Calvary based in La Grande during his first deployment, which ended when the unit came home from Iraq in November of 2005.

This year he was asked if he might consider going back to Iraq, as they were really in need of chaplains and assistants. He volunteered, and recently went back over with the 41st Combat Team, where he is working again as a chaplain’s assistant.
He also goes on convoy/supply missions to Baghdad. He is based in the South Western part of Iraq near the city of Nazaria.
Daggett’s wife Susie, and three children Alex, Bonnie Jean and Becca Joy, are waiting for him in Imbler. “My husband is a gifted soldier; he honestly feels the call to serve his country,” Susie Daggett said.
