Judith Elaine Wetzell-Stephen

Judith Elaine Wetzell-Stephen, 47, died in Tigard.

Judith was born to Charles Henry and Norma Wetzell of Tigard.

She graduated from Clatskanie High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degrees from the University of Oregon where she studied liberal arts, American studies, music, dance and drama. She worked as an actress, doing movies including “Being John Malkovich,” commercials and live theatre in addition to teaching band.

She lived in Wallowa County for four years during which time she assisted her mother, who was a founding advisor of the Joseph Thespian Troupe.

She married Gerald “Gerry” Stephen Aug. 12, 2000. The couple lived in Tigard.

She was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tigard, Daughters of the American Revolution, Dwarf Athletic Association of America, Beta Sigma Phi, The Cystinosis Foundation, Little People of America, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Stephen of Tigard; mother, Norma Wetzell of Tigard; sisters, Viki Defferding of Tigard, Valerie Wood of Springfield, and Toni McLaughlin of Elgin.

A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at Calvin Presbyterian Church of Tigard.

Major Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions in Judith’s name may be made to Cystinosis Foundation or to the University of Oregon Marching Band Scholarship.
