Wallowa County’s Zumwalt Prairie and its vast grassland of rolling hills that is home to a wide variety of animals will be featured on public television this coming week.
Oregon Public Broadcasting will feature Zumwalt Prairie, Thursday, July 9, at 8:30 p.m. on Oregon Field Guide.
Owned by the Nature Conservancy, the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve is the largest American grassland of its type and home to a large number of hawks, eagles and other wildlife.
The same show will explore Knappton Cove, Wash., on the Columbia River at the Pacific Ocean, a place that around the turn of the century was an entry point for immigrants coming to the United States.
The Oregon Field Guide crew will also take a trip down one of the most dangerous big rivers in the state, the Illinois River in Southwest Oregon.
